The ngffs project is now officialy opened. The name is somewhat misleading, there is not much 'next generation' about it. The need for this file system arose when TomTom needed a flash file system for their TomTom GO car navigation system. There are only 4 pages of flash memory available, and JFFS2 (the only serious other flash file system) needs at least 8 or 9. That's why ngffs was created, it can work already with 2 pages.
