I have a Netbook with Ubuntu 14.04 (x86) installed.
Nixnote 1.5 and 1.6 install correctly (I can't see any i386 versions after those)and open correctly, but the option Tools>Synchronise with Evernote is greyed out, and when I click on "Synchronise" in the toolbar or on Tools>Connect the "Please grant Nixnote Access" dialog box appears, then disappears and the following error message shows at the bottom left hand corner of the window:
"OAuth error retrieving temporary token"
I really do prefer Nixnote over Everpad, so please help to fix this!

Are you behind some type of firewall?

If you have another PC with NixNote installed, you can copy the ~./nevernote/oauth*.txt files to the one having a problem. That will give you the same auth token and should allow you to synchronize.

You can also try running it from a terminal and seeing if any other messages appear.

Not behind a firewall other than the Router.
I'm using Beta 2 64 bits on my laptop, and I can't find any file oauth*.txt at all. Anywhere.

Starting using Command line (sudo) I get this message:

QtJambiInternal.buildMetaData: Writer for property content takes a type which is incompatible with reader's return type.

Sorry, but I'm confused. You said earlier you were using 1.5 & 1.6, but now beta 2? Are you using NixNote2 beta, or a NixNote 1.x?

Sorry, I have two machines - one a 64 bit laptop, running Beta 2.0 and the other a 32 bit netbook, on which I'm having the problem connecting to Evernote.

This problem is because of a vulnerability in SSL v3 discovered in a month ago (called POODLE).
Evernote has disabled to support SSL v3 on their servers.

But, nevertheless, when you authorize your account to NixNote, QWebView try to use SSL v3 instead of TLS (I don't know why).
So NixNote failed to get the temporary token, and you cannot see the authorize page.

If you want to solve this problem, the easiest way is using NeighborNote.
NeighborNote is the application I developed, and almost as same as NixNote because it's developed by using NixNote 1.6.

The difference is "Related Notes" feature. In this feature, you can find related notes based on your operation history.
I want to increase users of NeighborNote. So please try it now.

And Randy, if you need a hand, please refer to my commit.

    Thank you.

        Just double-click it.

Please refer to Tutorial-Install for detail.

Thanks Yuki, I've added them to NixNote.

If you wish to patch NixNote, please go to SourceForge at https://sourceforge.net/projects/nevernote/files/Unstable%20Patches%20-%201.6/.

From there, download the latest NixNote 1.6 nixnote.jar from the "unstable patches" directory. Make a backup of the existing nixnote.jar in /usr/share/nixnote/ and place this new jar in that directory (be sure the proper permissions are set).

Once you do this, you should be able to press "Connect" in the application and it will provide you with a prompt to give NixNote access to your account.

      Hi Randy,

I tried to follow your instructions, but I am new to Ubuntu and Terminal, and I probably did it incorrectly.

I have an Acer AspireOne D255 Netbook with Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit installed. I installed Nixnote using Software Center but the option Tools>Synchronise with Evernote is greyed out, and when I click on "Synchronise" in the toolbar or on Tools>Connect the "Please grant Nixnote Access" dialog box appears, then disappears and the following error message shows at the bottom left hand corner of the window: "OAuth error retrieving temporary token"

I downloaded nixnote.jar from your link and tried to replace the one in usr/Share/nixnote/ with the new file by typing in the following in Terminal:
      - cp -i nixnote.jar usr/Share/nixnote/
      - rw-r--r--

The same problem persists. Help please?

      Thank you!
