ok, I got the box up and running (debian/stable as the boot server,
debian/testing with kdm as the X server), however, I do not know how
to get the dmesg logs? I manage to get the console open, and telnet
into diag and so forth, but are there any instructions on how to get
the logs? As I gather, the kernel.Z (which is loaded on boot),
contains the kernel and the X server. and I have diagnostic output
enabled now, but nothing very interesting is seen.

the kernel seems to be an ELF file (sysv/unix), but gnu/objdump
doesn't seem to recognize it too well (I'm running it on the
non-compressed kernel).

also, on another note, the x server seems to be in 8-bit color depth,
is it possible to change this? at least I failed to find any
documentation on this (also the rs/6000 nsm link that you have in the
howto doesn't work anymore).
