If fbi works ok displaying a true > color photo, then the fbdev works ok in whatever mode you are using. It works at 8, 15 and 16 bits, 24 bits says ioctl FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO: Invalid argument and the kernel outputs s3triofb_op_set_var con=0 640x480-640x480-24bpp mode=39722 48 16 33 10 96 2 AT act=0 and 32 ends up with a weird scren (broken setup) and saying: fbcon_setup: No support for fontwidth 8 fbcon_setup: type 0 (aux 0, depth 32) not supported If you want more info on this failures I can provide the hole kernel dumps, but I think we should center on getting the 16 bits working on X first. > Let's stick to just one X version for now and one kernel version, i.e. 2.4.19 > for the time being. Ok, I was just trying to see if I could port it meanwhile I was waiting for your new patches. I didn't mean we need that working now, I just wanted you to know that I have something, so that we don't waste time doing the same things. > What video mode do you have configured in the firmware setup? My > test monitor here only does 60Hz, so I use 640x480-60 or 1024x768-60. > Please try one of those two firmware settings. I had 1024x768-85 I have lowered it to 60 now but same thing happens. > What firmware version are you running? I use 3.1.0.2 here. I don't 3.1.1.0 Talking about versions, I have looked at the version of the PCBs we have and we have two different PCBs each one has a differnet PN, btw, our PCBs are numbers 0100134 and 0100146. > If things don't work, please enable all calls to trio_dump_regs(). I have, and all the info you wanted is gathered with the kernel having this activated. > Please email all logs in sets, where a set contains /var/log/dmesg, the > section from /var/log/messages, /var/log/XFree86.*.log, and the > XF86Config-4 that went with it. I didn't want to mail all that to the list, so I have placed it at http://networkstation.aytolacoruna.es/new/test if you happen to have any problem downloading from there and you prefer me to send it to you I'll do it. I think I have left over there all you wanted, if you miss something just ask. > I would prefer to stick to one version of X and one kernel version if you > want me to debug the problem. Things don't get easier with more variables. Ok, no problem for me. I hope you can find the thing that is causing the difference here. Regards! |
