For Linux I have had outstanding results with EasyTag 1.99 and it can fill tags from your directory structure. With EasyTag, it is not required that the genres are standard ones, AFAIK. http://easytag.sourceforge.net/ I love using this app for renaming files and folder structures from tag data too.
