Netdisco maps the topology by looking at neighbor discovery protocols supported by the switches: CDP, LLDP, FDP, SONMP/NDP etc. Perhaps your Nortel switches support the Nortel Discovery Protocol? Or did you already check that and are you having trouble correlating the data? It's not completely clear whether you checked a topology protocol or you just checked forwarding tables (ie: which MAC was learned on which port).
