Jethro,
Thanks for helping me escape a bit of tunnel vision. Escaping the hash in the topo file results in the following:
[root@netdisco netdisco]# ./netdisco -T
n e t d i s c o
--------------------------------------------------
Loading Topology from file: /usr/local/netdisco/netdisco-topology.txt...
!topo_add_link() - 10.11.254.252 (10.11.254.252) / 31 has discovered neighbor 10.11.254.203 / Port8 which conflicts with forced info of 10.11.254.203 (10.11.254.203) / Port #8
!topo_add_link() - 10.11.254.252 (10.11.254.252) / 31 has discovered neighbor 10.11.254.203 / Port8 which conflicts with forced info of 10.11.254.203 (10.11.254.203) / Port #8
Whereas previously I have tried "Port8" in the topo file with these results:
[root@netdisco netdisco]# ./netdisco -T
n e t d i s c o
--------------------------------------------------
Loading Topology from file: /usr/local/netdisco/netdisco-topology.txt...
!topo_add_link() - Topology file error! Source Port Doesn't exist in this link : 10.11.254.203 (10.11.254.203) / Port8 --> 10.11.254.252 (10.11.254.252) / 31
!topo_add_link() - Topology file error! Destination Port Doesn't exist in this link : 10.11.254.252 (10.11.254.252) / 31 --> 10.11.254.203 (10.11.254.203) / Port8
So now I am thinking that on these little HP switches, the port naming isn't consistent between LLDP and SNMP and that is causing the conflict. Will verify later today.
