Ken, The command "./netdisco -m" will execute a macsuck against every switch that has been discovered. You can also run "./netdisco" or "./netdisco -h" to see all command line options for the backend. On Linux systems, usually "cron" is used to schedule periodic command runs. Every user has its own crontab for commands that have to be run in the user context. You can see the periodic commands for the Netdisco user if you give the command "crontab -l". An example command schedule for Netdisco is included in the file "netdisco.crontab", which you can install with the command "crontab netdisco.crontab". If you want to edit the current schedule, use "crontab -e". In the example crontab, macsuck is performed once every two hours and arpnip every hour on xx:30. Perhaps you already knew all of this, but since you said you're new to the Linux world, I thought I'd just point it out. Subject: Re: [Netdisco] Locate a machine on the network by MAC or IPand show the switch port it lives at We do have CDP turned on. I have ran that command you suggest. I can see the entire list of my switches if I click the inventory button. But if I search for any other IP other than workstations directly connected to the switch I manually ran the macsuck, I don't get the switch port information. I'm sure there is something I'm missing. What command will cause macsuck to run on all my switches?
