I noted Bjoern's comments dated 2004-03-02 following the irc session with regard Retrospect: - The guys from Dantz really gave us hard time. Retrospect kept reporting duplicated IDs, but we were able to verify that there were no duplicates. In the end, as trying to backup the same data from a Mac server produced the same errors, we concluded that this was a Retrospect problem. On 1.6.4 (which I realise wasn't the version of Retrospect that Bjoern was referring to) we quite often suffer problems with Retrospect crashing out while scanning the Retrospect volume. Looking at the archives, I found a thread terminating with this message (excperpted) from Alistair: Alistair Riddell <ali@gw...> Re: duplicate DIDs 2004-02-28 07:58 On Tue, 24 Feb 2004, didier wrote: > > Netatalk-1.6.4 CNID DB : > > result: retrospect complains a little: > > Error: Scanning incomplete, error -43 (file/folder not > > found). > Can you try with option nofileid in Applevolume? > options:nofileid This appears to solve the problem under both 1.6.4 and 2.0alpha2. Can you advise whether it could be problematic to turn this option on routinely? Is this the current "best solution" for the problem? Would this have any impact on the usability of the netatalk share for OSX 10.3 and OS9.2 users? Thanks for any comments, Rory -- Rory Campbell-Lange <ro...@ca...> <www.campbell-lange.net> |
