I don't think there are any difficulties, other than working with long file names made by OSX clients. You can find out more about upgrading here: http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/ShouldIUpgrade Incidentally, you may find the best way to upgrade is to copy all the files off the old netatalk server using a mac, and then copy them back once the server has been upgraded to the new version of netatalk.
