Thanks for responding. I'm going through the bug backlog to try to assess which ones are still relevant. Netatalk saw little development for the last decade after Apple deprecated AFP. So most bugs as old as this are still valid.

I created the issue on November 24, 2015 many years ago, I don't remember, I don't work anymore with netatalk, please, close or delete this bug.

the FCE_FILE_MODIFY logic did indeed collate the path in Mac encoding, unlike the other events; good catch
merged to main; the fix will be in v4.6
