Sometimes, viewing the traffic rate of a single connection (in addition to the total, which is shown at the bottom) would be very handy.
Either as another column titled IN/OUT that shows the KB/s, or something more fancy with bars like iftop: http://www.ex-parrot.com/pdw/iftop/

To implement this would require to listen for web traffic (like ethereal) and work with administrative rights. This would make netactview harder to use (administrative rights at least to have this feature), bigger (starts slower) and much more resource hungry. This would scare off some of its users and the feature wont bring that many.

I want to keep netactview snappy and simple, more like a graphically enhanced version of netstat.
For now I chose not to implement this feature.

I know that performance is a concern, but iftop seems to handle this well.

Also it culd be optionally enabled for root?
So users can choose if they want to live without that feature or log in as root and turn it on.
