SNMP Password

I am currently running Net-SNMP 5.5 and ran into an issue where I can't set a password that contains special character. I have no problem setting a really long (45 characters) alphanumeric password.

I searched the documentation and I can't find anywhere the restriction for SNMP V2/V3 passwords.

Any help  is appreciated.
