Bugs item #1084413, was opened at 2004-12-13 09:06 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by rstory You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112694&aid=1084413&group_id=12694 Category: agent >Group: None Status: Open >Resolution: Later Priority: 5 Submitted By: Dan (effable) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Can't disable file logging Initial Comment: I'm running Net-SNMP 5.2 on a Gentoo Linux box. It works great except for one thing. I enabled syslog logging to daemon.info with snmpd CLI argument '-Lsd' which works great. (I prefer syslog because it makes it easier for me to send logs to a remote host as well as integrate with my log checking tools better.) So I'd like to completely disable file logging and keep syslog logging, because it's not ideal to write out the same info twice. There is no run-time configuration method of disabling file logging. For instance, '-Lf /dev/null' doesn't work. Also, reportedly the new null log handler in 5.2 ('-Ln') won't do the trick because it won't disable the file log handler. Since I run a distribution-based system without easy access to modifying configure options, would prefer a run-time config option somewhere -- whether via a CLI argument to snmpd or via snmpd.conf. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Robert Story (rstory) Date: 2004-12-24 10:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=76148 fixed for 5.3 and 5.2.1. code is different in 5.1.2, discussion on coders needed for the right fix there.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112694&aid=1084413&group_id=12694 |
