Hallo,
as several linux distributions changed to unicode/utf-8
character set by default, it would be very useful to
have it supported in nedit.

    This is crucial feature.
    Without UTF-8 support NEdit looks like abandoned piece of software (from newcomer's perspective).

    I agree. UTF-8 support is the biggest hole in nedit. It is becoming more common all the time for nedit to not work for what I need to do because of its lack of handling UTF-8 characters. There was a patch submitted in 2004, but it's probably time for this to become part of the mainstream application. I love nedit! I just wish the UTF-8 support was there.

    Dear developers,

    it's 2021 year now, and ALL linux distros use UTF locales. Even "English" locale is en_US.UTF-8 in now days. PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE, add an utf support into your nirvana :) editor!
