Hi everybody! Sorry if this has come up before, I couldn't find any reference on google/previous list postings. This card uses the ACX111 chipset (native Linux driver doesn't work) so I've used ndiswrapper instead. I'm using the DWL-650+ driver which works fine normally (this post is coming over it in fact), but for some reason I can't enable WEP of any kind. bagpuss root # iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"MYSSID" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.472GHz Access Point: 00:30:BD:FD:B2:89 Bit Rate:54Mb/s Tx-Power:24 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 RTS thr:4096 B Fragment thr:4096 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:98/100 Signal level:-55 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:1133 Invalid misc:1329 Missed beacon:0 eth0 no wireless extensions. But any attempt to set WEP seems to fail. It doesn't matter if the interface is up or down. bagpuss root # iwconfig wlan0 key 1234567890 Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not permitted. bagpuss root # iwconfig wlan0 key 1234-1234-5678-5678-1234-1234-99 Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not permitted. bagpuss root # iwconfig wlan0 key s:MYKEY Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not permitted. I've tried using the open/enc/restricted options without sucess. I am missing some thing obvious?! Thanks, Rich |
