I've had the same problem with 1.18 on Madrivalinux 2006.0 using a vanilla 
kernel 2.16.17 and Netgear WG511v2 which has the Marvell chip, too. But my 
kernel did not crash really, only my keyboard and mouse did not work 
anymore. I switched back to 1.17, too.

I will see, if I can make a debugtrace next week, but I think it will be 
difficuilt, because the kernel did not crash really. (Did not see a 
backtrace in syslog after reeboot)

Everyone using the Marvell chip Libertas b/g 88w8335 should use 
ndiswrapper 1.17 so long which work really fine.
