I wasn't sure what chipset I had, but an LSPCI made me smack my forehead. The new drivers work beautifully, Giri. Thank you so much. Guess I should have read a little closer, eh? Thank you, thank you, thank you. ~~ Andrew D. lin...@wi... ---------------------------------------------- As per Installation document, you would've better success with alternate drivers. Use 1.73 version of driver for Realtek 8180L from Realtek website. The driver from Dlink is too old and doesn't work very well (although if you get the latest cvs of ndiswrapper, it works okay with Dlink driver). -- Giri ---------------------------------------------- Hey, guys. I'm going on vacation next week, and I need a laptop to keep updating my site and just keep in contact with the rest of the world. Now, laugh if you will, but this machine is nice and stable. Here's the specs. Toshiba Satellite 220CDS Pentium I, 133Mhz 32MB RAM 1.3GB HD Slackware 10.0, using Fluxbox 0.9.10 Kernel 2.4.26 --- aka "bareacpi.i" PCMCIA wireless card: D-Link DWL-650, Chipset Revision M If you want the official 220CDS's specs, they're in a PDF here: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com//content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellite_220cds.pdf It runs rather smoothly, although I'm doing most of this from the CLI, not the GUI, just to save some CPU cycles. That bugger needs all the CPU cycles it can get. :-D Anyway, I compiled ndiswrapper just fine. I installed the official 1.01 driver off support.dlink.com, DWL-650, Chipset M, and that loaded just beautifully. It's when I modprobe ndiswrapper into the kernel that we have problems... The keyboard locks up for a few seconds, while the DWL's lights blink, and then the keyboard responds, and the lights stop blinking again. Here's the output from DMESG. ndiswrapper version 0.12 loaded (preempt=no,smp=no) wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:0d:88:65:a6:26 using driver netr33x wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP ndiswrapper: driver netr33x (D-Link,05/23/2003,5.140.0523.2003) added ndiswrapper (hangcheck_proc:379): Hangcheck returned true. Resetting wlan0! ndiswrapper (hangcheck_proc:379): Hangcheck returned true. Resetting wlan0! ndiswrapper (hangcheck_proc:379): Hangcheck returned true. Resetting wlan0! ndiswrapper (hangcheck_proc:379): Hangcheck returned true. Resetting wlan0! ndiswrapper (hangcheck_proc:379): Hangcheck returned true. Resetting wlan0! ... et cetera I then ran "modprobe ndiswrapper hangcheck_interval=-1", and that gave the same results... no fix. Any help? I can just feel it.... it's so close... ~~ Andrew D. lin...@wi... |
