I'm working in a computer center in France and I have installed the nco
operators at IDRIS. I have a strange problem with the ncks operator and I need
to have the advice of someone who know very well nco. Jan Polcher, has given to
me your email to contact to you.
The command ncks is failing with this error message on a SGI (Rhodes) :
rhodes-rlll202 : ncks -F -d time,1,1 sst2_hanning.nc sst2.nc
Bus error(coredump)
this failure is not systematic, and on an other SGI (Gaya), the command is
right, when I put the binary command of Gaya on Rhodes, the command fails, when
I put the binary command of Rhodes on Gaya the command is ok. The limits seem
to be the same on Rhodes and Gaya :
But the problem with ncks and the file sst2_hanning.nc seems due to a
difference between Gaya and Rhodes.... Maybe a problem of memory when ncks is
processing big file could appear?
I would like to have the advice from someone that knowns rather well the ncks
command and (perhap's) have already seen this kind of problems ...
Thank you for your attention

Send version info:
ncks -r
Run with debugging output, e.g.,
ncks -D 5
Try making the stacksize unlimited
ulimit -Hs unlimited
ulimit -Ss unlimited
thank you,
I have to do the tests suggested...

This version of NCO is too old for me to help you with. Maybe the problem will go away if you upgrade.
