Looks like navit don't want to place me on a service road. (At least OSM has service roads as a concept, and navit renders them as single-pixel black lines.) I understand that navit don't want to take "shortcuts" through parking lots or industrial areas. This is usually avoidable by making service roads "slow" though. But such areas may very well be the endpoints of a trip. Every workday, I park in a parking lot at the end of a service road that connects the parking lot to the city streets. So when the GPS says I am on the service road, then it'd be nice if navit believe it, instead of placing me on the nearest city street 150m away. When I get the sound system working, it'd even be nice to be told if I need a left or right turn where the service road ends. Similiarly - if the gps says I am on a footpath then I probably am. I could be walking, or I could be lost. Directions back to the proper road is then useful. Of course, modes for pedestrian or bicycle could also be useful. Helge Hafting |
