At the moment, we have a subdirectory called "test" but it seems to contain mostly sample code and not really tests as I'd define them. Also, if I run nasm over these code samples, what should I get? How do I know whether the output is correct or not? These are semi-rhetorical questions, so I'll cut to the chase. I would like to have an automated test regimen as part of the nasm code so that one could type "make test" and automatically run a decent regression test. Even better, IMHO would be to also have unit tests. It's possible that this idea has already been discussed and shot down and I just missed it. If not, and there's interest, I think we should flesh out what's desired to make sure we all understand what we're about to do. Thoughts? Comments? Complaints? Ed |
