I have used your excellent program with three different printers two HPs and a recently manufactured Epson. When using the automatic feeder after the first page is scanned the program gives an error message that the "printer is busy" and altough the printer contienus to scan the pages the program cannot insert them iinto the doocument. This occurs withboth twain and WIA
Sincerely
Charles Mixter
I have the same issue with HP OfficeJet Pro 6970.
Using the latest NAPS currently available (5.5.0).
Any idea?
Thank You.
I think its the same problem in #295.
The Microsoft WIA driver has problems with more than one Side in one Scan (Win7,Win10). Use the manufacture driver instead.
We had the same problem with Ricoh 305, HP 276 and HPX476 MFP.

@Peter, I'm no sure.
What do you mean install the manufacture driver?
Windows installs HP drivers automatically (Just not the bloatware accomapnied to it).
Moreover, I can scan multiple pages easily on other programs like PDF-Xchange Viewer which uses the same WIA.
Start the devicemanager (devmgmt.msc). Under 'Imaging Devices' you see your Scanner.
Make a double Klick on your Scanner and look under Driver.
If you read there 'Driver Provider = Microsoft' you have problems.
The automatic installation of drivers from MS may be helpful, but the drivers are really bad and only cause problems (Especially scanner drivers).
It is not for nothing that every manufacturer wants to install their own drivers before connecting a device.
For each driver package from a manufacturer, the drivers can be extracted and installed individually w/o the bloatware.
The installation is then perhaps a little cumbersome, but the result counts.
In your case download the basicdriver package. Extract the .exe with 7zip and then use the HPWia_OJ6970.INF for install.
Do you have the newest Firmware installed?

Hi Peter,
In Windows 10 the OS automatically installs drivers by HP (It also installs HP Smart Windows Store application).
My driver is supplied by HP and automatically updated to the latest version.
I verified it.
Again, it seems other programs using the same WIA driver can scan multipe plages with no issues on the same computer, same driver..

Hi all, i had exactly the same issue (with MS drivers for HP6970) and and I installed as Peter said "all in one drivers" (but without unzipping the .inf). Drivers link on the official page :https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585/model/8289586.
Just run the exe.
It created a 2nd driver named "HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 (NET)" manufactured by HP.
Just select it in your NAPS2 profile, and duplex (double sided) scanning works.. life is good again
I don't like all HP's bloaware with their EXE.
I beleiev Windows 10 already installs the latest driver (Without all uneeded rest).
Maybe it is a new version.
I just use the Web Wizard of the printer.
This require no installation at all.
