The default behavior of the Save PDF button is to save all images in the layout grid to a single PDF file regardless if the user has selected any of the images. I believe that the default behavior needs to be changed to one of the following behaviors to avoid accidentally including the wrong pages in a PDF file:
1) Save selected images by default. If none are selected, then save all.
2) Invoke the drop-down menu on the button so that the user can choose to save selected or save all. If none are selected then save all. This might be the better option because it lets the user clarify his/her intent.
The default behavior presents problems in an office setting where people scan stacks of documents belonging to multiple parties into NAPS2 in one scan operation. When users try to separate them into individual PDF documents by selecting thumbnails and clicking the Save PDF button they think that they've only saved the selected pages when, in truth, they saved every page in the grid to a PDF. People may accidentally send sensitive or confidential information to the wrong parties that way; that could have serious legal implications.
This behavior needs to be applied to the Save PDF and Save Images button. I'm calling this ticket a bug fix because the default behavior is misleading to some people and is resulting in unexpected results.
Yes, I think that would work very well. Thank you.
Just tested the new version; you never cease to amaze! 4.5.1 looks
fantastic; love the new drag + drop features, too. The configurable
functionality is perfect; just what I wanted. Thanks so much.
