Request an overlay grid when doing custom rotation. I'm generally doing this when the automatic de-skew doesn't work, which is usually on pages with a mix of text and graphics.

I second this. Currently having to drag the preview window so I can match a line in the image to the edge of the monitor! Deskew isn't working at all on these images.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it doesn't work for what I need. At the moment, I can custom rotate and make a good job of getting the image horizontal within a degree or two. Drawing a line on the page isn't any more accurate - the way it works it is probably less so. Then the line doesn't stay as a guide - as you say, the image tries to auoto align to the line. The images I tested it on would move maybe 3-5 degrees each time I drew a line when they needed to move 10's of degrees. This maybe the nature of the images I am rotating - CD faces.
Being able to apply a grid across the rotation screen would definitely make things easier and quicker for me and I guess others.

My apologies! I had another try with this and understand how it works.
For anyone finding this thread, in the custom rotation window, find an element in the image that should be horizontal. Draw a line between two points on that element that represent the horizontal. The image will rotate to match.

You can draw a line in the custom rotation window and it will auto align to that line.
