Hi, I wanted to inform you that I'd consider the initial NanoVM port to cc65 targets as completed. I tested the Apple2 and C64 targets. The VM binary without default nvm file and without debug messages is about 15,5kB. I'm a little surprised regarding the performance. The QuickSort example needs 5 (!)seconds to sort 13 values on a 6502 @ 1MHz :-( Therefore I'm not sure if there are any usecases for this port - if it makes sense to talk about "usecases" anyway when it comes to 8-bit home computers ;-) However without a usecase in mind I will most probably not add any native classes which would be necessary to do more than keyboard input and (unformatted) screen output. So from my perspective it's now time to tell others about this port. I'd presume that one or the other would like to play around a little with NanoVM on some Apple2/C64 emulator. Therefore I'd like to provide disk images with NanoVM binaries for doing so. What is your opinion? Could those disk images be part of the NanoVM download area on SourceForge? ...? Best, Oliver |
