Agreed. Try the other packages first......Network/Server monitoring is an art of understanding systems and knowing what needs to be monitored. If a package is easy out of the box, it more than likely isn't doing what you wish it would do and will require much more time to configure. A decent UNIX admin can easily script the Nagios configuration on first load, as long as they have read the documentation and understand how Nagios works and understand network monitoring protocols and such.....as any sane admin would do.
