a summary of what I'm using:

gcc --version 
gcc (GCC) 4.0.3

distribution: LinuxFromScratch version 6.2 (look at www.linuxfromscratch.org)

Kernel: 2.6.18.5 on a pentium4 system with hypertreading

Mysql version 5.0.21

Fuse version 2.6.2

Mysqlfs version 0.3.1
