Hi Geoff,
Well there is one thing to know if you use WinCVS
that is if you run any command, a DOS command window
will appear (check on the task bar) and nothing is displayed
inside. Just type your password then [ENTER] and the sun
will shine again ;)

Actually, I am still having problems :-(

I have installed WinCVS, ran the exe from SourceForge, then, at first, se=

up with SSH per the instructinos on SF install page using
":ext:gsm...@cv...:/cvsroot/myrpg" and
":ext:gsm...@cv...:/cvsroot/myrpg" as the CVS root
(tried both just in case).  Each time this resulted in CVS running over
night, and it was still trying in the morning with no results.

Then I tried the switch to "psswd" using the same settings  and I get a
very quick message saying CVS exited nirmally with Code 1.

Obviously I have missed some critical setup ... any suggestions would be
much appreciated.

Actually, I am still having problems :-(

I hope I will clarify all of that :)
First MyRPG intend to provide the ability to create Massive RPG games ove=
r
Internet.

It's a big work (we know that :)).

So there is a video game named "Land Stalker" (Sega, some screen shots ar=
e

I think you can find (or I can help you to find) an emulator and the rom =
to
see it.
Made in 1993, this game  was amazing (3D isometric/manga like graphisms).

When I've created the MyRPG project, I first have the idea to make a Land
Stalker like
game but multi player and over Internet.

So for now, we'll try to do that but keeping in mind that we could create
an other type of RPG (cyber-punk ambiance...) with an other type of graph=
ism
(true 3D or 2D...).

Thus:
- Sprites: 3D isometric (manga like prefered but not mandatory, I find it
particularly
  nice)
- Environment: Heroic Fantasy (magic, dragon, elf, dwarfs, humans and so
on...)
- NPCs: have to be specified (Artificial Intelligence...)

That's approximately what has been specified (in my mind) for now, the re=
st
has to be made...

Also, am I making my own judgements as to what I think the functionality
should be for the various elements (e.g. Sprites, Environments, NPCs) or
should the four of us on the spec team discuss the general idea,
first?  The document on the site now does not give enough information to
really glean what you're intentions are for these types of elements.

If you would like me to take a stab at what I feel the functionality shou=
ld
be based on my experience playing other games, I am happy to do that.

  project intends to do, its behaviours...

- Begin the devlopment of the Holy Factory interface,
  think of its functionnalities (propose it in the working draft).
  This application will be a SWING GUI interface. It
  will render a world description and allow the creation
  and modification of a world easily. The world is decribed in XML
  so anybody who want to help to develop this tool should learn
  this language.

In fact, that is your source forge SHELL account.
You can test your SSH configuration by typing
on the prompt:

c:\ssh -l allan_linga shell.sourceforge.net

If it fails, then try to restart your computer.
Tell me what is your operating system... The version
of windows ;)

Let's talk about the world description.
As you know (or not ;) ).

Once upon a time...

Well for now a world defines the limits
where a player can go.

A world is defined by it's unique name and
it is managed at least by one Atlas master
server. Some other Atlas slave servers can
manage areas.

A world is so described as a set of areas.
Generally an area will be managed by an Atlas
slave server. It's defined by a unique name too,
and the Atlas server url.

-3-
An area contains also a set of screens. One screen
pocess the following attributes:

- A unique name
- Dimensions (width, length, height) the unit is a
             cube.
- A set of ground elements (one ground element per cube).
  Its size depends on the predefined dimensions.
- A set of screen connections (thus a  player can go to
  another screen!!!).

A ground element represents the different part of the
land on which a player can walk.

A screen connection is defined by its x, y and z values
(the 3D coordinates of a cube) and the target screen name
which must be in the same world....(or maybe not :DDD).
Let's say that for now, the name must be in the same
world.
