Thanks for a client that runs on Vista, where Evolution fails!
I can send mail with other clients configured for SMTP port as 587.
MyOE fails its test, when attempting to connect to this alternate port.
MyOE also fails to recognize IMAP running on default port 143, but I suspect this protocol is not supported.
Incoming email from POP3 works for me, however.
It would be helpful, to have 2 levels of errors, attempting to connect to server (and verification of connection), as well as attempting account credentials, and perhaps a check for an SSL certificate, as well.
This should test positive for me, without SSL. I.e., it is not relevant.
Finally, I tried clicking on Trace from the help menu, but this provides no feedback.

Hmm. I now think the problem is that my smtp server does not support authentication, and myoe does not have an option to turn this off.
