Jose, I think the conclusion from lots of back and forth was that a real 
implementation is needed.

Jan, I think Jose doesn't want to implement to much without some 
expectation that it will be accepted.

In light of a PR I submitted last week, I have an idea to try... I'll 
try to get some code later on...
