For the MyHDL core - software, documentation and myhdl.org - there *is* a single set of licenses. The minimum set of 2, one for software and one for documentation. I have proposed to move to CC BY-SA for documentation - but the saldo remains two. If you want to participate to the core project, you have to comply with those licenses. For example, Martin's choice makes it possible to incorporate his contributions in myhdl.org (after the move) if he or someone else chooses to do so. If you don't want to participate to the core project, that is fine. You can still be part of the community. However, for the community as whole, with all initiatives, ventures and projects one can imagine, it would be very unwise to strive for a common set of licenses. Obviously, you don't want that yourself. For example, for your training class project, you may (understandably) prefer a closed source license, and you wouldn't want us to tell you that you should open source it instead. -- Jan Decaluwe - Resources bvba - http://www.jandecaluwe.com Python as a HDL: http://www.myhdl.org VHDL development, the modern way: http://www.sigasi.com Analog design automation: http://www.mephisto-da.com World-class digital design: http://www.easics.com |
