I agree the repository works for development snapshots. The only thought would be for new users. Is it as easy to pull from the repository (new users not familiar with hg etc) as downloading a zip. I think there are enough instructions etc on the wiki and hg is python based for easy to install. The cost of entry is slightly more than downloading zip files.
