Most of the stuff I've read about getting component out of a video card involved using a transcoder like a Audio Authority 9A60 or a Key Digital KD-VTCA3. Then you need to set up a mode line which generates the correct signals for an HD (or SD I guess) signal. I've seen some step by step guides for using PowerStrip (not linux) online, but there must be a similar guide for Linux somewhere. Honestly I haven't picked my video card yet. I was thinking about something with at least two outputs though so I could have a small monitor for PC management tasks and use the other output for the TV. I'm also a little partial to Matrox since they have given a lot of help to Open Source developers in the past -- though I'm not sure how they rate now and whether they have the hardware acceleration I would want.
