Hi all, I surfed a little from the motorola link that is given on the softfield page and found some interesting stuff. There is a linux bsp (board support package) which might well be source code for the kernel - maybe not the whole kernel but the important bits specific to the CPU, memory and integrated peripherals (SD/MMC driver maybe?). It's a huge download. You have to sign up to Motorola to download the BSP but the final download is under the GPL. The CPU itself has some interesting features like hardware support to accelerate some multimedia functions, and to implement bluetooth. No idea if they are supported by default. The multimedia stuff might help to decode video and play mp3/ogg. There are also references to REDBOOT which is a boot loader/monitor written by RedHat, also under GPL (no signup required). Finally there are some flashing tools which appear to be for windows :( (talk of COM ports and an exe file). I don't imagine it would be too hard to make a linux version... maybe a little risky testing it :) -Cam |
