The visible and therefore selectable data of the 'find and select' boxes is limited, because their size is limited in mant cases (e.g. in 'serial' box in adding new reference name or in the main searching box in taxon names). In other cases the list os selectable data is not limited (e.g. 'language' box in adding new reference). In some cases, if there are inconsistences it could be really hard to find a data. Forinstance: there is allowed to enter as much initials as the user want using free the format. Therefore the initials are sometimes differ in one author. In Kieffer there are two way to be used: JJ. or J.J. of course the reference 'find and select' box in adding new taxon name sort the references using also the initials. If you type 'kieffer' than you will get the result, that there is no kieffer paper in the database before 1904, which is not true of course. than you create a new reference for kieffer 1902, however kieffer 1902 is already in the reference list.

This is a problem, however, remember that the picker is "smart", it searches for any word in the citation, so you need not start with J.J. or JJ, most taxonomic publications have a word in the title that isn't shared with more than say 10 others, try using those title words. Will leave open and try and further tweak the results algorithmic though.
