MusicLad 1.6.0

MusicLad 1.6.0

Everything added since 1.5.1, in one list.

Statistics

  • Wrap-ups are now a slideshow. The monthly and yearly wrap-ups open as a deck of
full-screen cards — minutes listened, your top artist, your top track, a wall of the albums
you played, the genres, the hours you listen in, and a one-word summary of the month —
    instead of a single page of figures. Click the right side to go forward, the left to go back;
the arrow keys and space work too.
  • Album art and artist photographs on the cards: the top track's cover, the album wall, and
a picture of your top artist, fetched once from Wikipedia and kept on disk afterwards. The
backdrop behind every card is one faint wash of the theme's colours, so the artwork on a card
is the only picture competing for attention.
  • Range switch: Month, Year, Last 30 days, All time. Every figure, chart and list on the
    page follows it.
  • Listening-days heat map — one square per day over the last eighteen weeks, darker where
you played more. A total says how much; this says whether it was a habit.
  • Top genres, ranked beside the tracks, artists and albums. Genres are recorded with each
play from now on, so this list fills in as you listen.
  • Longest session — the longest unbroken run of listening in the window, with its date,
    under the calendar.
  • Milestones — 100 plays, 50 hours, 100 artists and the rest, each with the date it
happened, plus the next one of each kind with a progress bar.
  • Running streaks. The streak figure says whether the run is still going or is your best so
    far.
  • Charts say what they mean. The listening clock is labelled "plays started in each hour of
the day", every bar carries its own count, and each ranked list says that the bar length
    is a play count.
  • Credits are split properly. "Doja Cat; SZA", "Doja Cat, SZA", "Skrillex feat. Sirah" and
"Skrillex (ft. Sirah)" all count as two artists now, so a collaboration gives the play to
both of them instead of inventing a third artist nobody listens to.
  • Statistics tab renamed from "Listening", hairlines between rows, and the wrap-up buttons sit
beside the heading instead of on top of the first row of figures.
  • A track counts as played after five seconds, and only the time you actually heard is added —
skipping out of a ten-minute track after a minute logs a minute.... read more

MusicLad 1.5.0 (Android Beta)

MusicLad 1.5.0

I've been cranking out updates like crazy, and I finally feel comfortable releasing the Android app (in beta). You can find it in the 1.5.0 folder. It has update scanning, not every windows update will have an android update but every android update will only release with a windows update to keep it simple.

Sound

ReplayGain, properly. MusicLad now reads the REPLAYGAIN tags your files
already carry, and measures the ones that have none to EBU R128 — the standard
ReplayGain is actually defined in terms of, rather than the rough RMS estimate
it used before. Choose Album to keep a record's quiet track quiet, or Track to
level everything for shuffle. Tracks nothing has measured play untouched.... read more

Visualizer

  • Two new styles. Wireframe, a turning cube whose corners are pushed
out by the band of the spectrum nearest them, and Oscilloscope, a
triggered waveform on a graticule with an X-Y figure behind it.
  • Per-style settings. Turn on "Just for this style" and that visualizer
keeps its own animation speed, sensitivity, trail blur and particle density.
A sensitivity that suits Bars no longer blows out the Oscilloscope.
  • Artist panel. A twin of the lyrics panel on the other side of the stage,
with a short summary of whoever is playing, from MusicBrainz and Wikipedia.
Off by default; turn it on under Panels. It drags, resizes and re-tints
exactly like the lyrics panel, and results are cached per artist.
  • Album art position. Put the cover or CD case in any of nine places on
the stage instead of always the middle.... read more

MusicLad 1.3.0 Release Notes

MusicLad 1.3.0

New

  • Advanced Stereo Tool presets. 20 built-in presets in six families:
Transparent, Adaptive, Bass, Broadcast, Listening and Restore. You can
save your own settings as a preset, delete your own presets, and reset
everything to defaults from the Configure window.
  • Sort order is remembered. The Library tab keeps the column you sorted by.
Each playlist keeps its own sort. Both survive a restart.
  • Scroll to change volume. Hover over the volume slider or the mute button
and use the mouse wheel.... read more

MusicLad 1.2.0 is here

Not much is different from 1.1.0 (I know I have no release notes I'm sorry lol), but it will scan for new updates on this page for musiclad and prompt you to download if your version is older than the latest.

1.1.0 introduced the new "Advanced Stereo Tool" which is my own version of Thimeo Stereo Tool, all free.
