Great to hear from you again! The Matrix Orbital character set doesn't include the backslash character ( see the manual: http://www.matrixorbital.com/files/LCD2041.pdf ) The only way I could think to support that would be to do a customer character load, but mtxorbd doesn't really support that yet.

Hey! a good twirly animation that requires nothing on your part other than start twirly at location x,y and "stop twirly" would be a good feature for version 1.5! heh I'll add that to my list. I'm thinking about making a python library that interfaces directly to the server, that way it's easier to use :)
I'm still coming up with ideas for new features, so give me all your "wishlist" and I'll see what I can do :) I'm about to have a spare box to play with, finally.

1. Twirly
2. Text animation - GIve it a string too big to fit from starting point to end point (or end of screen) and it will slide it back and forth to display the whole text
3. XML (or other format) based menu system - Fill out a config file defining menu/submenu/actions (actions could be simple scripts)
Ok, 3 doesn't count, but still a wish of mine.
I am heavily invested in Perl so learning Python doesn't appeal. I have no formal programming background so OOP is a bit of a mystery to me. Still, we use a product at work that is heavily Python so I probably need to learn it...
We need to get together... still using AIM?

My bad!!!
I just assumed it did, since it's such a common character.
Kinda makes it hard to do a good twirly... guess I'll just leave it out.
Thanks!
Jim
