ok solved my problem! I now know that you shouldn't run the tapedrive
through a raidcontroller :-)

What does 'tapeinfo -f /dev/sg5' report? It sounds to me that you might have
a
kernel without LUN support, and thus /dev/sg5 isn't what you think it is.

That's what makes it appear to me that it's a LUN issue and you're issuing

info. Also, the contents of /proc/scsi/scsi would be very helpful if there
is
not a LUN issue.
