Hello.
I think will be great to have OpenTimeLineIO support in mrViewer. (https://opentimelineio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/)
The goal here is to use mrviewer to run a dailies/review session.
Editorial creates a timeline with the shots to review, this timeline is exported to OpenTimeLineIO and in mrViewer thre is a new command line option like --timeline, this can be also in the menu of course.
Then you point to you OpenTimeLineIO and mrViwer can get all the clips load them in it's EDL window, put mrViewer in EDL mode and you are good to go to run the review session.
This will probably need and extra option to set the Media Pool, or the path to the root with all the clips used in the time line.
I dont know if it is possible now, but this feature of opening time lines will be great along with hot keys to jump between clips in EDL mode and loop only the current clip, or current clip plus the before and after.
Thanks!

Currently, there's partial support for opentimelineio in mrViewer already, with an adapter :
.otio<->.reel. Check the video here for its use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXaYj406xiM
It is not as user friendly as having a switch or a built-in opentimelineio support but it is something.

wow, this is great.
All the opportunities that opentimeio opens to make editing a more programmatic process are amazing.
At the moment, as you said is in early stages, I think if mrViewer can support otio files out of the box, the only dependency would probably be to have oiot installed in the local python install and than have the 2 or 3 options I described before:
- Jump between clips
- Loop current clip
- Loop current clip plus neighbours
This will make mrViewer an excellent tool to review timelines and open a lot of possibilities in the pipeline.
Excellent work as usual!
