Hello Campbell,

I'm having a weird issue when trying to set smtp.
Reason to use smtp after many years of using default php mail is that the smtp server from my provider (Ionos) is known to be blacklisted almost everywhere, so I wanted to use one of my "secured" smtp's.

Turns out that setting $mail_settings['debug'] = true; displays a nice output telling me that the message has been sent whether using smtp.gmail.com or smtp.orange.fr (domains for which I do have valid addresses and credentials).

Testing it with my gmail address as recipient, I then get a returning error message from both attempts stating that either SPF or DKIM protocols must be set....
Any idea as to how this could be addressed or am I making a mistake anywhere?

Thx

Philippe

This isn't an MRBS issue. You'll probably need to modify your DNS records. Try searching for the error message you are getting.

    Hmmmm
Don ´t see why I would have to (and definitely can´t) modify gmail.com or orange.fr DNS records!

Maybe gmail expects the From address to be the same as the SMTP server account address.

It will do, or at least an email address verified in the account.
