If an unmanaged flight gets in the way, the managed flight is
directed around it, is my guess.

Collisions are routinely a possibility (and need to be
constantly watched for) with the current system in the following
ways:

- faster planes overtaking slower planes on the designated
highways in the sky
- planes coming together on different highways in the sky at
junctions where the highways meet

obstacles, and
