You need to build/install a MPLS enabled iproute package. The patch for this is inside of the mpls-linux/patches directory. Hi lists, I have installed Fedora Core 2 and I have applied the patch=20 of mpls 1.946 and everything is ok. Afterwards, I installed quagga 0.96=20 and I have applied the ldp-portable 0.800 patch: quagga-mpls.diff and=20 then i modified and execute 'create-links'. Then, I configure and=20 compile quagga and while compiling I have an error about "mpls-linux. o", and it says that it does not know how to build the file (I believe=20 it is because the file does not exist). The file "README.quagga-mpls"=20 says that if you are not running on a mpls-linux enabled kernel, modify=20 quagga/zebra/Makefile.am and change mpls-linux.o to mpl_null.o; but I=20 don't think I have to do so because I have a Kernel 2.6.9 with mpls=20 1.946. Do you know what I can do with mpls-linux.o? Thanks in advance Prueba el Nuevo Correo Terra; Seguro, R=C3=A1pido, Fiable. |

If you are not familiar with patching, compiling, and install linux software I suggest using the pre-packaged RPMs that you can find at http://mpls-linux.sf.net/ On Tue, Nov 22, 2005 at 04:01:15PM +0100, mhamed lasram wrote: > dear >=20 > to use MPLS i must install iproute2. >=20 > Is iproute2.diff the patch to use MPLS ? >=20 > how to install iproute2 ? > thanks --=20 James R. This is to study for a test. I wanted to observe some real data, ie session setup, discovery hellos. Email jwstric2[at]ncsu.edu if there are any network logs someone has, ones that can easily opened in ethereal if possible. Thanks, John |

The mpls command is part of the patched iproute2 package. You could probably use the SRPM I provide for Fedora to compile one for SuSe. Sounds like your close. If you have much more difficulty going down this path, you might want to consider using the SuSe source RPM and adding the MPLS patch, much like I do with the Fedora RPMs. On Tue, Nov 08, 2005 at 02:45:46PM +0100, mhamed lasram wrote: > i'm very sorry > i would like to use MPLS for Linux i work with Suse9.3 > i download MPLS-linux and linux-kernel2.6.9. >=20 > i patch the kernel and i configure the new kernel with make menuconfig. >=20 > after that i do : >=20 > 1. >=20 > make bzImage > 2. >=20 > make modules > 3. >=20 > make modules_install >=20 > i fond two new file bzImage and System.map >=20 > i copy him to /boot and rename him >=20 > how can i do to make initrd-2.6.9MPLS-default ? Take a look at the man page for 'mkinitrd'. The initrd must be made by pointing it at the modules for the same kernel version as the bzimage. But I want to know that when two terminals communicate with each other usin= g ping, there is no label in the IP packets? just using the normal IP formats. you just mentioned the "PORTING LAYER",what does that mean? Is it have some relations with my problem? |

ldpd operates on the contents of the quagga routing table. ldpd does not care how the routes get put into the quagga routing table. For example static routes added via quagga CLI are treated them same (by ldpd) as routes learned via quagga's ospfd. hello, I want to just use static route to realize 3-layer routing (not ospf, rip or bgp). If ldpd based on the control message of dynamic route protocol, then static route cant work, but if ldpd based on linux route table, I think static route can work. Would you tell me which way does ldpd based, topo-driven or data-diven? U can try to patch your kernel with existing MPLS. U'll see probaly some errors. U have to fix manually some files which were not upgraded.
