The "ip" command lets you specify upto 255 routing tables, is there a reason that stops you from using that for VRF? Have you seen "bird" routing daemon (http://bird.network.cz/?download). IXP cpus with microengines that support mpls will be cool, i can feel the speed of the internet increasing already :) --- "James R. I really dont think i have the brains, but i think you would get a lot of people on board once you give the green light to ldp and bgp for mpls, i know thats what has stopped me from using it for my latest project. The last thing I'm working out before a release is the quagga-mpls integration. There are 1.950 packages up on SF for everything except quagga and the mpls-linux tarball. James, thanks for your reply. This is the simple scenario I am trying to simulate with NCTUns: Host1 -----------------LER1 ------------------- LER2 ---------------- Host2 1.0.1.1 1.0.1.2 1.0.3.1 1.0.3.2 1.0.2.2 1.0.2.1 Where LER1 should create the MPLS stack and LER2 should remove it. Host1 and Host2 respectively send and receive ipv4 packets. I am trying to configure LER1 (from its rlogin shell) entering the following instructions: mpls nhlfe add key 0 ---> key: 0x00000002 mpls nhlfe change key 0x2 instructions push gen 1000 nexthop eth2 ipv4 1.0.3.2 ---> mpls nhlfe change key 0x2 instructions push gen 1000 nexthop tun4 ipv4 1.0.3.2 ---> RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted Eth2 is the outgoing interface of LER1 (ip address 1.0.3.1) which corresponds to the virtual interface tun4. Exchanging eth2 with tun4 does not eliminate the RTNETLINK error. The strange fact is that if I enter any other address which doesn't belong to my simulated network (i mean an invented address) I do not get the error. For example: mpls nhlfe change key 0x2 instructions push gen 1000 nexthop eth2 ipv4 153.153.153.153 (this network doesn't exist) ---> mpls nhlfe change key 0x2 instructions push gen 1000 nexthop tun4 ipv4 153.153153.153 mpls nhlfe show ---> NHLFE entry key 0x00000002 mtu 1496 propagate_ttl ---> push gen 1000 set tun4 ipv4 153.153.153.153 (0 bytes, 0 pkts, 0 dropped) But obviously MPLS forwarding is then not enabled, since the network configuration is wrong. The only thing I can think about is the way this simulator addresses packets: probably the point is not this, but every ip address in NCTUns is 1.0.x.x and when a sending node 1.0.A.B has to send packets to a destination node 1.0.C.D, it uses A.B.C.D as destination address. And although this mechanism should be hidden to the user i can still see strange A.B.C.D addresses in my routing tables. I don't know if these informations can be useful to you, but I am still not able to forward any MPLS packet in my simulated network. Can you help me in any way? Alessandro De Rosa |

Announces Kiosk-Based P2P Betting Exchange Platform for Land-Based Casinos Friday December 9, 4:53 pm ET VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2005 --UBA Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets:UBTA - News) is targeting land-based casinos as a new market for its proprietary betting exchange software. UBA has commenced negotiations to install its betting exchange software, in stand-alone self operating kiosks, at traditional land-based casino locations. In November 2002, the Las Vegas Sun reported that gaming regulators in Nevada had approved a sports- and race-betting kiosk concept, which operates similarly to an automatic teller machine. The kiosk will provide larger casinos an opportunity to increase their sports-betting volume by strategically placing the kiosks in well-travelled casino areas. These betting systems have the potential to include wireless devices, allowing casino gamblers to place bets poolside, or from their hotel rooms. With high-speed broadband and wireless services now available on a global basis, UBA is well positioned to market its betting exchange platform to qualified online operators. This software would give online operators the ability to generate additional income streams from their current casino and poker clientele. Juniper Research estimates that mobile gambling will be a US$16.6 billion business by 2008. Geographical and cultural forces are also at work on these projections, particularly in the Asia-Pacific regions (driven largely by China). The popularity of gambling, coupled with the rapid growth in mobile phone penetration in the next five years, should assist UBA in its plans to leverage its internet-based betting exchange client base. The timing for UBA Technology's entry into the market place is excellent as the global gaming market continues to expand not only for online poker companies (Party Poker -- Party Gaming -- PRTY.L) and traditional bricks and mortar casinos (Wynn Resorts -- WYNN), but also for online gaming software providers (Cryptologic Inc. -- CRYP.Q). |

KO KO PETROLEUM (KKPT) - Friday Alert Up Over 100% Current Price: 1.60 Up $1.07 In Last 7 days Symbol - KKPT Watch out the sto ck go crazy Friday morning KOKO Petroleum, Inc. (KKPT) issued an update on its working interest investment in two wells in the prolific Barnett Shale Play located in northern Texas. Under the terms of the participation agreement with Rife Energy Operating, Inc. (the program's operator), KOKO Petroleum has acquired a minority working interests (approx. 10%) in the drilling and completion of two wells; the Boyd #1 and the Inglish #2 both of which have been drilled but not yet completed. The operator is in the process of setting casing on the Inglish 2 and the Boyd is awaiting a sufficient water supply to start the completion. Due to the heavy influx of major operators in the area (Encana and XTO), scheduling completions and any other types of oil field services has been very difficult. Operators in the area have had to schedule well completions three to four months in advance. This coupled with the fact that Northern Texas has experienced a major drought causing serious shortfalls of local water. Rife, as an alternative, has drilled a water well, which was the source of drilling water for the Inglish 2 and Boyd 1. Rife has five wells that have been drilled and are awaiting completions. The Barnett Shale is the largest natural gas play in Texas. It is presently producing 900 MMCF of gas per day and is considered one of the largest U.S. domestic natural gas plays with sizable, remaining resource potential. The first Barnett Shale wells were drilled and completed in the early 1980s by Mitchell Energy of Houston, Texas. According to an in-depth 2004 sector report on the Barnett Shale, developed by Morgan Stanley (MWD), the Barnett Shale play is estimated to hold reserves in the non-core area that could be as high as 150 BCF per 1,000 acres. The report estimated that because of the amount of gas available in the area, successful wells in the Barnett Shale should be economically viable in almost any gas price environment. "The well logs are very encouraging, as were the wells they offset. Our operator is very resourceful and we should have these wells completed by the end of the year," says Ted Kozub, President of KOKO Petroleum, Inc. On the Corsicana front, KOKO and its Partner have applied for the drilling permits to commence the first 15 Nacatoch wells, casing is being delivered to the site and drilling will commence upon receipt of the permits. |

Due to the nature of the TC system in linux, it could be used to satisfy your needs. Since any BW based queuing system needs to keep track of the current BW being used you can piggy back on that for your needs. Just build two BW based queues (BW greater then your anticipated flows) and then classify the packets into the two queues and the use the TC command to see the current queue utilization. Hi All:
I am trying to create 2 LSP in this example. I map two UDP traffic(from =
HostA to HostB) to LSPs.
The LSP1 is LER1->LSR1->LSR2->LER2 using label 1000 and the LSP2 is =
LER1->LSR3->LER2 using label 2000.
I want to monitor two LSP's load in LER2. Please tell me how can I =
measure the load of LSPs.(using iptables?)
Thanks for your attention.

I use user-mode-linux to do testing. It allows for running the linux kernel as a set of processes on a host. The result is that I can run a 6 node network on my wimpy IBM T23 laptop. User-mode-linux can use TUN/TAP interfaces as the mechnism for building links between the nodes. I run MPLS across these links all the time. So I'm thinking you should not have any difficulties doing so in your environment. If you do run into issues let me know and I'll do my best to help out. Hi all, I am using the MPLS kernel patch on a Fedora Core 3 distribution. The patch is successfully installed and it seems to work fine. I am now trying to use a network simulator (called NCTUns) to simulate MPLS forwarding but I am experiencing some problems. NCTUns creates TUN/TAP interfaces for each node of the simulated network (e.g. tun1, tun2, tun3 and so on) which means "virtual" interfaces. Is it possible to run MPLS instructions with these interfaces? Thanks in advance Alessandro De Rosa |
