Hello, Did you install the kernel patch using the instructions I gave? Did you compile MPLS in the kernel (not as module)? Did you run into errors during the kernel compilation? If you compiled mpls as a module, you need to do 'modprobe mpls4' to load it first. If you run into trouble, you can write to the mailing-list because they might help you faster. You said 'And i get any output if run *dmesg* *|grep MPLS.*' Does this mean that you have output or not? Best regards, Adrian Popa On 8/16/07, syarif al ikhwan <sya...@gm...> wrote: > > hallo, > i am student at andalas university. Hello Rachid, As far as I see in your test bed, only the links 9.0.0.0 and 12.0.0.0 are wireless links. BS as far as I see are just plain access-points (with no MPLS support). If what I understand is correct, MPLS will be running betwee= n E1/E2/E3. On the wireless links you'll have plain IP packets. With this test bed you can test performance on the wireless links (without MPLS) and performance on the MPLS wired links. If this is what you want, ok... You don't have to modify much. If you want to use MPLS over the wireless links, you need to use MPLS on your laptops, and in this case you can test MPLS performance over wireless (hint: this performance will be less than plain IP over wireless because of the increased overhead). To use the wireless interfaces, you need to install the correct wireless dirvers in linux (if the interfaces don't work out of the box). After the drivers are loaded, you will have usable interfaces. You need to connect th= e interfaces to a wireless access point (set the SSID) by using the iwconfig (wireless-tools package) command. After that the interface behaves like a regular interface (there's nothing special in the mpls configuration). Here's an example: E1# iwconfig eth1 essid "MY_AP_SSID" You can find out the SSID by using iwlist eth1 scanning. You can set the ip address with ifconfig, like a normal ethernet interface. After you configure the interfaces you can use for reference the experiment= s involving QoS in my lab documentation. Please note that because of poor drivers I was unable to make the wireless interface work at a rate higher than 1Mbps (which was enough for pings, but not enough for video experiments). You need to make sure the wireless interfaces work as expected. If you need to install additional wireless drivers, have a look here: http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/ and here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi Good luck! Hallo, I put some trace to this posting. I marked the interesting part of the trace. I have got an OSPF adjacency between the quagga PC and a router. I turn on trace all on the quagga PC in the ldp section. Than I enable ldp on the interface to the router. The ldp adjacency comes up and both systems exchange their local label binding. The result is, the router puts this labels as an remote binding in its forwarding table an the quagga PC does the same. If I use ISIS I do the same. The result was the router puts this labels as an remote binding in its forwarding table again. But the quagga PC did this not: 2007/08/09 18:10:10 LDP: ENTER: ldp_nexthop_for_fec_session 2007/08/09 18:10:10 LDP: EXIT: ldp_nexthop_for_fec_session: NULL 2007/08/09 18:10:10 LDP: OUT: Session 10.205.0.1:0 is not a valid nexthop for 0adb0001/32 Does anybody know why this happen? The first point in my question down is not so interesting any more. But the third one is interesting. Thanks. "James R. Leu" <jl...@mi...> schrieb: > You're in untested territory. James Please do post the file and let us know where they are. Further, I have just completed making modifications to MPLS-linux 1.956 so it at least compiles with kernel 2.6.22-1.45 if test sgo well then I can move toward update the vrf-linux files toward its integration into the 2547bis roadmap.... Also, I have cat'ed all the kernel patch files, do I just post this file in my P4 root tree or move each modified file into tree? thanks..... James R. Leu wrote: > Some additional noteis. Thanks James, This has fixed all my problems. I was trying to set up LSP's dynamically, as well as get LSP stats back from a test network we have here. With the debug running, the speed of the routers (at least interrogating via mpls commands) was VERY slow. We also set up the routers with a series of preconfigured LSP's, and turn them on and off depending on measured loads. It was by chance that I peered into /var/log/messages and saw the debug. The setup went from 15 mins to 13 secs by switching off debug. The load measuring commands went way down also. Everything is sweet now. ..mcf James R.
