Hi, I installed the current mpls in linux-2.4.7. Some of the commands as given in the manual work such as ./mpls ai 100 0 30. But ./mpls as 0 30 2 30 doesn't work. It says. AddSwMapping failed: 105 (No buffer space available). What am I missing ? Thanks, Dhiman |

Thanks for the clarifications. I am still facing problems in setting up a zldp based network. All the routes are properly set, ospf, bgp and rip are behaving as expected. Linux kernel is ver - 2.4.5 with mpls_linux patch. I have zldpd running with the following config files (I have inherited these conf files from the sample in the source tree..so I suspect some misconfiguration here) At LER1: hostname ldpd password a log stdout interface lo interface eth0 mpls ip interface eth1 mpls ldp router-id 192.168.1.1 mpls ip line vty (Q: what are these mpls commands and how do they relate to corrosponding interface commands?) At Core: hostname ldpd password a log stdout interface lo interface eth0 mpls ip interface eth1 mpls ldp router-id 192.168.1.2 mpls ip line vty At LER2: hostname ldpd password a log stdout interface lo interface eth0 mpls ip interface eth2 mpls ldp router-id 192.168.2.1 mpls ip line vty zebra_ldp is sending hello packets seemlessly..but I dont see the neighbour list getting updated as it reports to have not established sessions. On doing 'show mpls ldp routes' on the ldpd console, I can see correct routes being shown. I think I have a fundamental problem in the configuaration. Is this configuration and enough to setup LSPs? My next question: I understand that zldpd allocates the labels and FECs based on the information gathered from Zebra routing tables, if so, how do I specify my own FEC and LSP. Hi, I downloaded the rsvp daemon and added the patches. There are few questions. 1) Do I need to add the mpls patch from sourceforge in addition to the the rsvp-te patch ? 2) When compiling rsvp deamon, it was saying linux/mpls.h not found. I had to put the exact path /usr/src/linux/include/linux and I had also done ln -sf /usr/src/linux-2.4.1 /urs/src/linux 3) While linking the rsvpd, it could not find -lefence in the Makefile option, so I had to compile after commenting that. I am using rh7 and linux 2.4.6. I tried to patch and whatever failed I added manually. All: I am trying to configure zldpd to run according to the configuration mentioned in README. I have zldpd running as daemon along with zebra and ripd. (I am not doing the static route allocation) When I did 'add global' in ldp_linux, it dumps core. Using gdb, it was found that ldp_linux was crashing at: ldp_socket_impl.c:ldp_socket_readlist_del() Here are my questions: Am I doing the right thing running zldpd and ldp_linux together? I assume I need to use mplsadm to specify the FEC bindings and the ldp will do the LSP allocation, is this right? - Praveen |

On 2.4.6 the ARPHRD_MPLS_TUNNEL conflicts with an existing value. Search for *.rej in your kernel source and manually add ARPHRD_MPLS_TUNNEL with a differnt value. Hi, a quick question about the "route" commands inside the ldp_linux client: I would like to force the client to create the labels manually by using the "add route" command. In other words, I would like to dynamically change the ldp routing information from the client (obviously, this routing onformation will be lost as soon as I exit the client, but I just want to force the label mapping creation and exchange). Is this supposed to be achieved with "add route" ? I tried with a simple example but it does not seem to work. Set the compiler to kgcc make CC=kgcc most of the "errors" should go away. When I try compile ldp_linux this warning ocur: ldp_nortel.h:194:8: warning: extra tokens at end of #endif directive and the compilation stop, to compile I remove option -Werror in Makefile, then the binary is formed, but in compilation a lot warnings ocurr, such as: ldp_label_abort.c:55:3: warning: pasting ""ENTER: "" and ""ldp_label_abort_send"" does not give a valid preprocessing token ldp_label_abort.c:55:3: warning: pasting ""ldp_label_abort_send"" and ""\n"" does not give a valid preprocessing token It can cause problens? Hi , I am new to this linux networking field . I have background of networking basics . I was going through the MPLS code at sourceforge. I am not able to undersand the way of interfacing to "IP" and ethernet. I am looking for some help where I can get some info how layers are hooked with each other. And how to put our hook of new protocol in those like done here in MPLS code?? PPP assumes that no protocol packets can flow until a NCP for that protocol has registered and syncronized with the peer. In the case of IPv4 IPCP can negotiate many things (IP addresses, DNS servers ....). In the case of MPLS nothing needs to be negotiated, the only purpose for MPLSCP is to identify that MPLS packet can be sent on this link. Hi, I have a question regarding MPLS over PPP. What is the expected function of MPLSCP ? Hi James, The following is the outcome of Ur suggestion: U have asked me to try: ( 1) . route add -host 10.1.6.33 gw 10.1.3.28 on LER A route add -host 10.1.317 gw 10.1.6.17 on LER B (2). Run gdb on it and tell me where it's crashing. * This is not clear to me ...... whether I should set some break points while running " gdb ldp_linux " and send U the output file ..... also I am not clear what crashing means .... ( 3). Send me the output from: show route & show database On each of the LDP speakers. * I am attaching those files Also note that No entries are formed in /proc/net/mpls_out and /proc/net/mpls_fec. Entries in /proc/net/mpls_in are the same as given earlier. Hope after going through the files attached U will suggest me accordingly.
