The problem with the cache size is that audio and video should use different cache sizes, but in general most sites don't tag audio as audio, so the plugin needs to assume it is video. When I try to listen the audio on this page, it takes a long time to start playing. Is there a way to make it start as soon as I hit the "play" button or just a few seconds after that? http://cbn.globoradio.globo.com/comentaristas/lucia-hippolito/2011/01/20/E-INACEITAVEL-QUE-SE-PAGUE-UMA-PENSAO-DE-R-41-MIL-EM-UM-PAIS-COMO-O-BRASIL.htm thanks. -- Linux 2.6.37: Flesh-Eating Bats with Fangs |

From: hea...@ho... To: mpl...@mp... Subject: mplayer load subtitles over network Date: Thu, 30 Dec 2010 19:40:41 +0000 When mplayer is used to play movies from a network share (here it is samba) the subtitles when they are in a separate file such as .srt are not loaded while it is properly put in place. When the movie file is played locally mplayer loads the .srt file automatically. The .srt file can of course be specified with -sub smb://path_to_file. But this is laborious and hardly useable when mplayer is launched directly with the mouse click. |

The make errors are due to using an old mplayerplug-in with a newer xulrunner. You probably don't need the --with-mozilla-home option below. Hi, I have downloaded mplayerplug-in source code mplayerplug-in-3.50.tar.gz and mplayerplug-in-3.55.tar.gz I am trying to configure for Fedora 12 Desktop PC.It has mplayer(mplayer-1.0-0.111.20091029svn.fc12.i686) and Firefox 3.5.6 installed. I have tried to configure with following command as per ./whatoptions.sh mentioned in both source code. ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-x --with-mozila-home=/usr/lib It has successfully done configuration. Hi, I'm one of the developers of Puppy Linux. I'm working on a "next generation" Puppy named "Quirky", using mplayer (compiled with external ffmpeg) and mplayerplug-in. These are all the latest pulled out of the respective version control systems, around January 16-17. I reported on building these packages in my blog: http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=01345 And released an experimental build (live-CD): http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=01348 ...the latter reports the problem of .ram files causing the browser to crash. Further reports confirm this in the Puppy Linux forum. It's actually the plugin that crashes, taking SeaMonkey or Firefox with it. Here is an example URL: http://www.slp3d.com/ram/slp3d.ram The contents of this .ram file is this one line: rtsp://slp3d.rmod.llnwd.net/a1430/o16/show/webcast/real/slp3d.rm ...if I run mplayer directly with that URI, mplayer plays it. I looked in the mplayerplug-in mail archive and it seems this issue came up back in 2007 and was resolved. Ah, but that was only for a pnm:// protocol: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=46C93E4F.2000708%40pienetworks.com ...that post described the essential problem as this: "Mplayerplug-in seems to be throwing the original .ram URL at mplayer, which doesn't like it unless the -playlist option is set." Could one of you guys take a look at this for me? I've got this Quirky Puppy live-CD at just 92.4MB that plays every media format we can throw at it, absolutely beautiful, except for this one problem with .ram files. Regards, Barry Kauler |

So if you have some patches you would like to apply to the code I would be willing to apply them for you initially and eventually give you committer access to the code. I can also function as a mentor for doing this somewhat, but I really don't know much about making windowless plugins. Hello there, Today installing mplayerplug-in on my netbook (using ubuntu 9.10) I need to play large file (like HD 720p) with these options: -lavdopts fast:skiploopfilter=all -demuxer lavf that allows my slow Atom-based netbook to play HD videos. I've set these options globally into mplayer's config(.mplayer/config): vo=xv ao=pulse lavdopts=fast=1:skiploopfilter=all demuxer=lavf how can I set these options on mplayerplug-in too? I've tried to use "profile" option in mplayerplug-in's config file(.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf), but these options are not used into the mplayer command used by mplayerplug-in as I can read from debug=1 output. It doesn't work because mplayerplug-in is a windowed and not a windowless plugin. For a long time this functionality was not available on linux. I think recent firefoxes are just now starting to support this type of plugin, but the documentation is not real clear on it. There are no current plans to make mplayerplug-in windowless. Hi guys. I've been trying to place a transparent png over a video playing on Firefox using MPlayer and Ubuntu 9.10. I tried first to put a transparent div, but it doesn't transparent to the video but to the body background. I've already tried options like the <video> tag and codec support on Firefox 3, but I need to play mms videos, video streaming in that format, and Firefox doesn't support mms. Here's a screenshot showing that it doesn't transparent the video. http://i.imgur.com/jUFeC.jpg Do you think that the mplayer plugin needs some kind of hackery in order to support this? is it a x.org/framebuffer issue? Thank you so much! Juan Pablo. |

I've been trying to track down a problem we've been having with users being logged out of their X session on Linux (CentOS5) - and it looks like it's a problem with the mplayer plug-in in firefox - this is what I believe is happening: The return status of fork() in mypopen() is not being checked for failure. If the fork() fails, then the return is -1 which results in instance->pid being set to -1 This means that when killmplayer() is called later, it attempts to do: kill(-1, SIGTERM) which kills _all_ the processes for which the user has permission to kill - and logging the user out - which is not good. We're still using mplayerplug-in 3.45 with firefox 3.0.X - but it looks like the problem is still in the 3.55 code. I believe the following patch should fix this issue: --- ./Source/plugin-threads.cpp.dist 2008-06-13 04:38:37.000000000 +0100 +++ ./Source/plugin-threads.cpp 2010-01-14 14:04:22.070539000 +0000 @@ -196,7 +196,13 @@ FILE *mypopen(char **argv, pid_t * pid, child = fork(); - if (!child) { + if (child < 0) { + if (DEBUG) { + printf("Unable to fork\n"); + } + return NULL; + + } else if (!child) { if (DEBUG) { char **tmp; tmp = argv; Also, to prevent killmplayer() from ever trying to kill pid -1, then maybe the following patch should also be applied: --- ./Source/plugin-support.cpp.dist 2008-05-28 15:50:46.000000000 +0100 +++ ./Source/plugin-support.cpp 2010-01-14 14:06:34.458130000 +0000 @@ -561,7 +561,7 @@ void killmplayer(nsPluginInstance * inst instance->threadlaunched = 0; - if (instance->pid != 0) { + if (instance->pid > 0) { count = 0; status = 1; James Pearson |

Hi All, After refresh firefox several times, my mplayerplug-in stoped at "buffering 0%" . I can't play this video any more . What is the reason , and how to solve it ? Version: mplayerplug-in-3.55 Thanks, Rgs, kavi |
