Otherwise, I'm aware that mozilla-mplayer provides the mplayerplug-in and is what I had installed now and with the Debian Sid prior to installing Kubuntu. However, there exists the seperate package "mplayerplug-in" on some distros, I believe and I think what Kevin was refering to in his response, and in fact I did find the source.tar.bz2 and tar.gz for it and also the mplayerplug-in-3.30-fc5.i386.rpm file. I've never compile so didn't attempt to do it. I did a wajig rpmtodeb on the rpm file to convert it and installed with dpkg. Apt show said it is indeed installed but it never showed up in mozilla's about plug-in list. This info has been posted here and on the Kubuntu user's list. Now if Kevin would just come back and explain exactly what he had in mind for me to do. Thanks for your input and trying to help. I wanted to see what your link had to say-but don't know why it failed. I also added the deb mirror, #Sid Debian Multimedia (packages, GPG key: 07DC563D1F41B907) deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main. which should have gotten me mozilla-mplayer-3.25 that I had in Debian Sid but I only get the Kubuntu uptodate version 3.17, also reported to Kubuntu users. I would like to reinstall with a newer version but so far no luck in getting it. Thanks for your input and feel free to add any more when you see this. BTW, I'm relatively new to linux and some of what I said, while believed to be fact, could be in error. If you see something wrong please enlighten me. I learn something new just about every day.
