It doesn't play all .wmv files, so I've downloaded Windows Media
Player. I'm trying to uninstall it from my Object Dock, but its doing
nothing. How do I go about this?

Drag it out of the dock. But the problem is just a little
deeper than that. MPlayer is hiding out in /bin too, so you
need to find that and its libraries.

/bin as in ROOT/bin??? is there any form of uninstaller that would completely
and cleanly remove mplayer from my system? Since I installed it 3/4 of my apps
are screwed. Most apps are either totally silent now or crash when trying to
perform audio functions. I'm facing a complete OS reinstall just for having
    installed mplayer...

can anyone provide a link to an uninstaller (none i can find) or an uninstall
procedure? The terminal is daunting, but a complete reformat and reinstall will
take me a week with all of the apps and data I have (which worked flawlessly
    until today)

Oh god! Don't install WMP for OSX, get Flip 4 Mac (google it
and you'll find it) it allows Windows media files to be
played in quicktime. It's so much better. I'm sure if you've
tried WMP for OSX you are not satisfied, so give this a try,
I'm sure you'll like it. Also, I've found that VLC plays
some files mplayer won't and vice versa.
