I downloaded a live concert that came as a set of .flac
files (Free Lossless Audio Codec). To my delight, they
showed up in the Finder with MPlayer icons, and when I
opened them, up came MPlayer OS X 2.0b6. (I thought I
would have to convert them to AIFF with MacFLAC 2.1.2,
and then from there to MP3 - very time-consuming.)
Later on, I upgraded to MPlayer OS X 2.0b7. When I try
and open these files, I get prompted saying "No default
application found.". I tried to select MPlayer but it
wasn't enabled in "Recommended Applications". I
selected it using "All Applications", but when I tried
to open the .flac files in 2.0b7 they were greyed-out
in the "Open" dialog box.
It appears that support for FLAC was dropped between
2.0b6 and 2.0b7! Why?
(I removed 2.0b7 and reinstalled 2.0b6 and am happily
able to listen to the .flac files again)
