How do you install this program?

After I have downloaded the player and unstuffed it
nothing happens when I click on the application.

I'm a UNIX moron. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be downloading
all of these things and where I'm supposed to put them, if
anywhere or why there's no documentation on how to install.

problem with compiler gcc 3.3.3 mplayer is staping installing
"bad compiler recomended 2.9.6 " haw to preinstall gcc.
can j preinstall gcc3.3.3 to 2.9.6 help
